Design Notes: Adapted from an original illustration I did roughly 10 years ago inspired by a tumultuous relationship with someone I had since been referring to as “the devil” (I wish them well now, I swear). It was also a time I was particularly in love with a Lykke Li cover version of a Stevie Nicks song, Silver Springs, that was unceremoniously left off of Fleetwood Mac’s seminal album Rumours. Pronouns have been changed in this design to more closely reflect the mental connection formed between the song and that formative, foregone, queer relationship of years ago. While it is obviously an incredibly relatable song across sexual orientations, as queer people, we tend to have much more trauma inherent in our early attachments that often hardens as abandonment—and Silver Springs really gets to the heart of that love, longing, and most importantly, loss. Plus, we just have a lot of feelings ✌️
